An engraving from a series of prints by R. Short that depict French and Spanish Men of War taken on the 3rd of May, 1747 (Julian calendar) at the First Battle of Cape Finisterre, and 14th of October, 1747 (Julian Calendar) at the Second Battle of Cape Finisterre. According to the dedication and descriptive text below the image, on the right side of the print is an accurate depiction of the stern of the former Spanish ship of the line 'Glorioso.' In the center are three-quarter head-views of the former French ships 'Jason' and 'La Glorie' captured by the British in 1747. The ship on the extreme left is unidentified.
The scene is busy with maritime activity. Sailors transport passengers to and from the ships in small rowboats and dinghies and crowds of men work on deck. Additional sailing vessels are in the background.
