Built in New York by members of the New York Yacht Club, the 'America' challenged the English yachting establishment, and beat the best of the British yachts with great ease. The trophy was subsequently named after the yacht to become the America's Cup. The New York Yacht Club maintained their winning streak for 25 challenges over 113 years.
