The engraving depicts the Garden of Eden, with Adam and Eve on either side of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, with the animals--including a pair of unicorns, and a sea monster--depicted throughout the scene, with the Serpent coiled around the Tree, and the two rivers of the garden visible. Ribbons swirl from Adam and Eve's hands and coil about the tree and serpent. On these ribbons are printed the following words:
