Itala nam tellus Graecia maior erat Ovid iv Fastor. Haec Italiae pars nunc primum de prisca aerugine est abstersa et ejusmodi, ut videre licet, nitori reddita
Map of the southern tip of the Italian Peninsula with the southernmost part oriented toward the top of the page. Jan Jansson published the map after Abraham Ortelius. The title references the region as "Magna Graecia" or "Great Greece" after the many Greek colonies during the antiquities. The map is heavily annotated in Latin with references from the classical source, Ovid's 'Fasti,' for legends, cities, and settlement of ancient Magna Graecia. There is only one cartouche at the top left, which is decorated by classically dressed figures, armaments, and a putto. Verso is blank.
