Funerary cones are clay cones stamped on their flat end with the name and titles of a tomb owner. They were set in rows above the entrance of Theban tomb chapels, and are best known from the New Kingdom, though the custom was revived in the Late Period.
These cones name Montuemhat, Fourth Prophet of Amun and Mayor of Thebes, one of the most powerful men in Upper Egypt during the 25th and early 26th Dynasties, whose enormous tomb lies in the Asasif at Thebes.
