Photograph of the yacht 'Alice' taken by Robert Sturgis. She was commanded by Captain Arthur H. Clark to sail from Boston to Cowes in 1886 for a record passage of 19 days, 6 hours and 20 minutes. With him were Charles Appleton Longfellow, the son of the poet, and Harry Stanfield from New York. The photo was most likely taken before the famous transatlantic journey.
