Dated 1813, hand colored aquatint (a method of etching a printing plate so that tones similar to watercolor washes can be reproduced) of a whaling scene, drawn by John Heaviside Clark (1770-1836) and engraved by Matthew Dubourg. This plate entitled: "Shooting A Harpoon At A Whale." It is taken from "Foreign Field Sports, Fisheries, Sporting Anecdotes &c.&c." published by Edward Orme, London 1814. This is plate IV of 4 whaling prints included in the book.
