AF-WF-0814.T.jpg

Hand-colored lithograph with a whaleboat in the right-hand foreground and a whaleship, with an uncolored flag and a cloud of smoke rising up from the deck, in the left-hand background. The smoke indicates that blubber is being boiled down to whale oil on board. Another whaleboat, two ships, and several spouting whales in the background. The harpooneersman of the foreground boat aims his weapon at the nearest spout. Printed in the top margin is the text "LE NAVIGATEUR" (at left) and "P. 306" (at right). The title and the artist attributions are printed in the lower margin.
