Hand-colored lithograph of a right whale hunt. Men on two whaleboats are posed to harpoon the whale a second time. The whaling vessel is in the middle ground of the image with a French flag. The image owes much to Ambroise Louis Garneray and Louis Lebreton, and had been frequently imitated (e.g., see Wan Lyff, #2001.100.4765 at the New Bedford Whaling Museum).
