Amedeo di Castellamonte was the architect appointed in 1658 by Carlo Emanuele II, duke of Savoy, to create a pleasure palace and hunting lodge near Turin. The volume contained detailed descriptions not only of the Baroque architectural details and decorations, the gardens and the stables, but also the costumes of participants in hunts and festivals.
