Hand-colored copperplate map of the densely forested region between the Gaul to Dacia and the Baltic Sea to the Adriatic Sea. This map was published in volume 6, the Orbis Antiquus of Jan Jansson's Novus Atlas, which was heavily influenced by Abraham Ortelius' Parergon (1597).
Ships and monsters decorate the seas and a decorative cartouche depicts curious warlike figures in animal skins in the lower right corner. A second cartouche appears in the lower left that lists the names of places.
