The print depicts the Spanish Armada, led by Pedro Navarro on behalf of Cardinal Cisneros, disembarking on the shores of Algeria for the Conquest of Oran on May 17, 1509. The conquest was part of a crusade for Christian conversion in the Islamic state. In the foreground, men prepare for battle and unload supplies.
