Bookplate of George Clulow, FGRS, Master of the Worshipful Company of Makers of Playing Cards and a historian of playing cards, showing Clulow in his study reading a paper and surrounded by books, including one entitled "PLAYING CARDS" and another entitled "PRINTERS AND ENGRAVERS". A King of Hearts and the date "AD 1889" appears on a stained-glass window above. Nestled in the elaborate border at bottom left is the artist's signature "R. Hope 96". At the top of the border is the family coat of arms, with the motto "Corde recto elati omnes"; on the bottom of the border is a small portrait with the date 1886 and the text "THERE IS DIVINITY IN ODD NUMBERS" (a line from Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor).
Dolphins flank the bottom corners of the bookplate.
