Engraving depicting a beached male cachelot, side view, surrounded by spectators. The sea crashes on the beach in the background. At right, a man seated on a barrel is making a sketch of the animal. The artist information and title are printed in the lower margin, and specify that "J. Augustini ad viv del" (drew this from life); perhaps the artist in the image is a self-reference by Augustini. The title, "Af tekening van een Cachelot den 20 Feb. 1762 tussen Zandvoort en Wykip Zee, aan strand Gedreeven, groot 61 voet 6 duum", translates to "A picture of a Cachelot, driven onto the beach between Zandvoort and Wykip Zee on 20 Feb. 1762, length 61 feet 6 inches."
