This tall stela was made for an official named Meru, with registers of offering scenes and a long inscription listing his titles and the offerings he hoped to receive in the afterlife.
Stelae like this stood in tomb chapels or in the cemetery of Abydos, where Egyptians wished to be commemorated close to the tomb of Osiris.
