This stela was dedicated by Amenhotep, a royal scribe and overseer, to Atum, the creator sun god of Heliopolis, and Osiris, ruler of the dead. The upper register shows the dedicant before the gods, and the lower part carries a hymn and offering prayer for his ka.
Pairing Atum and Osiris reflects the Egyptian hope that the dead would share in both the sun's daily cycle of rebirth and Osiris's eternal life.
