Butehamon was a royal scribe of the necropolis at Deir el-Medina at the end of the 20th and start of the 21st Dynasty (around 1080-1060 BCE), a time when the necropolis staff were also rewrapping and reburying the plundered royal mummies. His painted wooden burial ensemble, made up of an outer coffin, an inner coffin and a mummy board, is one of the best-preserved of the period, covered inside and out with gods, protective figures and texts in yellow varnish.
This capture shows the whole ensemble as displayed in the museum, with the lids standing upright beside the two coffin cases so that both their exteriors and their painted interiors can be seen.
