Round-topped stelae were set up in tomb chapels and cemeteries so that visitors could read the name of the dead and recite the offering formula on their behalf. Their upper registers often show the deceased adoring Osiris or other gods, with family members bringing offerings below.
This wall of the museum brings together a group of painted and carved stelae, many from Thebes and Deir el-Medina.
