A coffin case from Butehamon's burial ensemble, its outer walls painted with registers of deities and funerary scenes in the rich yellow-varnished style of the period.
Butehamon was a royal scribe of the necropolis at Deir el-Medina at the end of the 20th and start of the 21st Dynasty (around 1080-1060 BCE), a time when the necropolis staff were also rewrapping and reburying the plundered royal mummies. His painted wooden burial ensemble, made up of an outer coffin, an inner coffin and a mummy board, is one of the best-preserved of the period, covered inside and out with gods, protective figures and texts in yellow varnish.
