The inside of this coffin lid from the burial of Butehamon is painted with columns of text and figures of deities, so the body would be surrounded by protective images on every side.
Butehamon was a royal scribe of the necropolis at Deir el-Medina at the end of the 20th and start of the 21st Dynasty (around 1080-1060 BCE), a time when the necropolis staff were also rewrapping and reburying the plundered royal mummies. His painted wooden burial ensemble, made up of an outer coffin, an inner coffin and a mummy board, is one of the best-preserved of the period, covered inside and out with gods, protective figures and texts in yellow varnish.
