Zeus, king of the Greek gods and ruler of the sky, was usually shown as a mature, bearded man, often holding a thunderbolt or scepter. At Ephesus he was worshiped alongside Artemis and the other Olympian gods, and statues of him decorated temples and public buildings.
The Ephesus Archaeological Museum in nearby Selçuk houses finds from the ancient city, including sculpture from its fountains, public buildings and the Terrace Houses of its wealthiest residents.
