During the period of the Republic of China, he served as the commander-in-chief of the "Central Military Academy", the chief of staff of the Fifth Army of the "National Revolutionary Army", the chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Government, and the deputy commander-in-chief of the Beijing-Shanghai-Hangzhou garrison headquarters. Zhu Shaozhou loved calligraphy and painting since childhood. He lived near the plum forest in Gushan Mountain. He often climbed mountains to watch plums when he was a child. In Taiwan in his later years, he often misses the West Lake, and talks about plum blossoms to express his nostalgia for his homeland. This "Red Plum" is a representative work of Zhu Shaozhou's painting of plums in his later years.
