The carved wooden core is decorated with the scenes of the Baptism of Christ and the Crucifixion, and almost disappears beneath the loaded mountings of this cross. The colorful composition consists of filigree enamels in green hues, cast-glass stones, corals, and pearls, that encase the dragons on the sides, and all other decorative elements contribute to compose a colorful assemblage. The morphological and stylistic features found on this cross are also encountered in a variable group of crosses that date to the second half of the eighteenth century, as well as in other objects such as jewelry and Panagiaria.
