The Step Pyramid of Djoser, Saqqara
The Step Pyramid of Djoser, located in the Saqqara necropolis near Cairo, Egypt, is one of the earliest monumental stone structures in Egyptian history and a pivotal development in the architecture of ancient Egypt. Built during the 27th century BC for Pharaoh Djoser, who reigned during the 3rd Dynasty, this pyramid represents the first known instance of a pharaoh's tomb being constructed entirely of stone and serves as the precursor to the more familiar smooth-sided pyramids that would follow.
