Two colored Arctic scenes printed on one sheet. The upper scene is titled, " View of Cape North with the appearance of the Sun at Midnight." The image depicts two ships with sails sailing past black, jagged cliffs, lined by seafoam and crashing waves. Grey clouds cover much of the sky, but they part in an oval allowing the sun, rendered in pale yellow, to be visible. There are flocks of black birds above the cliffs.
Below this is the title of the second image, "Ships breaking the Ice in the Greenland Sea.", and then a scene of ships in the ice with men in a rowboat about to harpoon a spouting whale, and a prowling white bear, depicted in the foreground. Under this are the artist attributions and the publication date and address: "Published Janr. 2 1809 by Sherwood, Neely, & Jones, 20 Paternoster Row."
