A starboard-broadside view of refitted sloop 'Jamestown' in the Cove of Cork in Ireland April 13, 1947. The print commemorates a moment of American generosity in which the American government responded to the call of Irish distress. When news of the Irish famine reached Boston, Bostonians responded by sending provisions worth over $40,000. The New England Relief committee lobbied to refit the war sloop 'Jamestown,' which was sitting idle in Charlestown Navy Yard, for the delivery of provisions. Robert Bennet Forbes supervised the refitting of the ship and commanded the ship across the Atlantic.

The ship flies an American flag above her stern and a flag depicting an olive branch, a sign of peace. A copy of this lithograph was given to R. B. Forbes at an event held on April 19, 1947 at the Cork Temperance Institute.
