Engraving depicting a bay with heavy fortifications and four ships on the water, with suggestions of gun port holes on their sides. There are four fortifications on the banks; that on the right bank is on fire, and one of its flags has a six-pointed asterisk upon it. The flags on the ships bear St. George's crosses, either covering the whole flag or in the canton. The publication date is printed in the right-hand side of the top margin: "Gent. Magazine April 1761" and in the lower margin is printed the title. "The Gentleman's Magazine", the source publication, was a popular London periodical.
