A print of the arrival of Princess Mary (later, Queen Mary II), daughter of King James II, Duke of York, to England. She married her cousin, William of Orange, and moved to Holland. Mary became Queen after her husband invaded England during the Glorious Revolution (1688-89), and her father fled the country December 1688.
Carel Allard's print depicts the warm welcome she received in England. She enjoyed great popularity during her reign. Mary is at the center foreground surrounded by a throng of spectators, Lords, and nobles who pay their respects by kneeling and bowing.
