A view of a New York harbor around the year 1790. The bow of a ship is partially depicted in the left foreground with various other sailing vessels grouped together in the right middle ground. The skyline of New York is in the background.
The print is a foldout illustration made for D. T. Valentine's 1862 'Manual of the Corporation of the City of New York.' The 'Manuals of the Corporation' were directories of extensive historical and contemporary records of New York that included detailed information on ordinances passed, public officials, directories of hospitals, schools, ferry schedules, and etc. Valentine updated and published the 'Manuals' annually from 1841-1866.
