Monochrome woodcut marked "Pl. CLVII", probably cut from a book, depicting two eels and a narwhal. The narwhal is spotted and faces towards the top of the page; it is labeled, "Monodon: M. Monoceros Narwhal or Sea Unicorn." The upper eel is white with a frill on its back and underside and a pattern resembling a string of beads along its length; it is labeled "Murcena. M. Ophis, Spotted Eel." The lower eel is grey with white patches mottled with black spots; it is labeled, "M. Helena, or Roman Eel." At the base of the image is the following text: "London. Published by Sherwood & Co. Paternoster Row, April 1st, 1812."
