Hand-colored map of Ireland with north oriented to the right. From the 1608 or 1612 Italian edition of the 'Theatrum Orbis Terrarum' by Ortelius. The edition had a print run of 300 copies. Boazio's map of Ireland was added by Johannes Baptista Vrientius, when he took over the publication after Ortelius' death. Along the graduated frame are various cartouches containing information such as the title, makers, short history, scale, and a list of Irish words. The sea is full of sea monsters and ships.
Italian text beginning the chapter on "L'Hivernia, Overo Irlanda" is on verso (14r). The last line, first text page, right aligned transcribed: "co"
