Dutch Privateer Good Expectation Capturing an English Packet Sloop Off Harwich on October 28, 1782
The engraving depicts two ships although others are visible in the background. At left, the dutch privateer brig Goede Verwachting (Good Expectation) fires a cannon on an English packet sloop. A dutch inscription at bottom describes the scene and names the captains of the ships. Captain Flynn (Dutch: Fleyn) commands the English ship, and the captain of the Dutch privateer is Captain I. W. Sextroh.
Watermark on paper: a fleur de lys, under which is the name, in capital letters, "KOOL".
