An engraving from a series of prints by R. Short that depict French and Spanish Men of War taken on the 3rd of May, 1747 (Julian calendar) at the First Battle of Cape Finisterre, and 14th of October, 1747 (Julian Calendar) at the Second Battle of Cape Finisterre. The vessels portrayed in this print are the French ships 'Diamond,' 'Jason,' and 'Ruby.' The British fleet that captured these vessels was under the command of Lord Anson and Sir Peter Warren during the First Battle of Finesterre. Now as British ships, the three vessels are anchored in a harbor while men in rowboats go to board them.
