Statue of Anen, Second Prophet of Amun

Anen was the brother of Queen Tiye, the great royal wife of Amenhotep III, and served as Second Prophet of Amun at Karnak. In this statue he wears the leopard skin of a sem priest, its surface decorated with stars, and a stole across his chest.

The back pillar is covered with columns of hieroglyphic text listing his titles and prayers. His parents, Yuya and Tjuyu, were honored with burial in the Valley of the Kings, a rare privilege for non-royals.
