One of the earliest specimens of a templon architrave, including a depiction of the Deisis theme, and eleven miracles of Saint Eustratius, one of the five martyrs of Sebaste in Asia Minor. These miracles are mostly the healing of disease, accomplished through the presence of the Saint via the grace of his holy relics, kept in his church in Sebaste. It appears that the scenes have been reproduced from a now lost illuminated manuscript recounting the miracles of the Saint. The architrave was created for the Chapel of the Holy Five Martyrs, located inside the Monastery, and is most probably the work of Cypriot artists who resided at Sinai during the first half of the twelfth century.
