"Marianna D'Antonio lived alone in a first floor apartment with a kitchen window looking out on Unity Street. In 1981, her landlord began converting the second and third floor apartments into condominiums, and legions of workmen began showing up early at her doorstep every morning. Clouds of dust and soot rained all over her apartment, and the constant noise often made Marianna step outside to look at the construction work going on above her. Despite the chance to move to another place, Marianna refused to leave. One day when the noise and dust became too much to bear she stepped outside, lost her footing, and fell on the pavement, breaking her hip. She vowed to come back to her little home, but never returned." (Anthony Riccio)
