The Sacred Way and Temple of Apollo, Delphi, Greece

The Sacred Way is the ancient path leading pilgrims through the sanctuary of Delphi, culminating at the Temple of Apollo, the centerpiece of this historic site in Greece. Delphi, regarded as the center of the world by the ancient Greeks, was famous for its oracle. The Sacred Way winds upwards, flanked by monuments, treasuries, and statues, commemorating victories and offerings to Apollo. The Temple of Apollo, perched majestically on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, was where the Pythia, the priestess of Apollo, delivered her cryptic prophecies. Constructed in the 4th century BCE, the temple's ruins hint at its former grandeur, with remaining columns and foundations evoking the spiritual and architectural significance of this ancient place of worship and consultation.
