Tomb of Ramesses I, Kings Valley
The tomb of Ramesses I is located in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, Egypt. It is the first royal tomb built in the valley and served as a model for later tombs in the valley.
Ramesses I was the founding Pharaoh of the 19th dynasty and ruled Egypt for just under two years. His tomb, which is relatively small compared to those of later pharaohs, consists of a series of chambers and passages leading to the burial chamber.
The walls of the tomb are decorated with religious texts and scenes depicting the pharaoh before various gods. Despite its historical significance, the tomb was later used as a source of building materials and its decoration was damaged over time.
Nevertheless, it remains an important site for tourists visiting Luxor and a valuable source of information about the early 19th dynasty and the development of royal burial practices in ancient Egypt.
