Egyptian beds were wooden frames strung with woven cord or leather, often with legs carved in the shape of animal legs and a footboard at one end. Instead of pillows, sleepers rested their heads on curved headrests of wood, stone or ivory.
Beds were luxury items in ancient Egypt, and fine examples were placed in the tombs of royalty and the elite so they could rest in comfort in the afterlife.
